About the role
NextGen is the Knights' structured youth development programme — three tiered pathways from ages 8 to 18. This role delivers coaching sessions at the Entry and Intermediate tier under the direction of the Head of NextGen.
You will be working with young people at the very start of their basketball journey. That requires patience, clarity, and a genuine investment in long-term player development — not just running drills.
What you'll do
- Deliver weekly coaching sessions for Entry and Intermediate tier players
- Support player assessments at the start and end of each term
- Maintain session plans and player progress records
- Communicate professionally with parents and guardians
- Uphold the Knights' coaching standards and player welfare protocols
- Attend periodic coach development sessions with the senior technical staff
What we're looking for
- Basketball playing or coaching experience at competitive level
- Experience working with young people in a coaching, teaching, or youth work capacity
- Patient, encouraging communication style — especially with beginners
- Reliable availability for scheduled sessions (typically evenings and weekends)
- Ability to follow a structured curriculum while adapting to individual player needs
Nice to have
- Formal coaching qualification (FIBA, GBA, or equivalent)
- Experience specifically with ages 8–16
- Interest in progressing to a full-time coaching role
